A coalition of Tunisian workers, employees, lawyers and activists referred to as The Dialogue Quartet was awarded the 2015 Noble Peace Prize to honor their contribution to the democratic transition amid a period of political instability following the unseating of ex-president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in 2011.
The National Dialogue Quartet is made up of four key organizations in Tunisian civil society: the Tunisian General Labor Union; the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts; the Tunisian Human Rights League; and the Tunisian Order of Lawyers.
The coalition played an important role as a mediator and driving force to advance peaceful democratic development in Tunisia with great moral authority.
